Class of 2015, Chemistry Major, Concentration in Forensics

I have never been a comic reader.  I never really understood comics, and I’m sure if I had come across them when I was younger I thought that they were strange and hard to follow.  To me comics were more for boys just because they were more about Spider-man, or Batman or something I just wasn’t quite interested in at the time.

I know now that comics are a big thing.  Okay, they’ve got to be a little more then a “big” thing if there are such things as Comic Con and entire stores devoted to selling comics, so there must be something about it.  My sister seems to enjoy comics and tends to buy quite a few.  Now I am taking a step to see if I actually enjoy comics.  I enjoy watching movies based off of comics, so should the comics themselves be any different?

My first buy isn’t anything big.  I just recently found out that one of my favorite TV shows, which ended a few years ago, Charmed had become a comic.  I found this out during a little search online one day while I was in the midst of watching the show on Netflix.    This is my “taking a step to see if the water is cold” kind of thing.  It was a show I really enjoyed, okay I loved it, and now my single purchase of Season 9 Volume 1 of Charmed will determine if I actually like comics or that I can at least enjoy them.

I haven’t actually started my comic yet since it starts off right where the series ended, and I wanted to do a little refresher course on what happened.  The thing is most series (this one included) ended with everything falling into place: girl got the guy; bad guys are dead, tied with a ribbon kind of thing that finishes everything off.  So yes I am very interested in reading what they decided happened next with it being one of those kinds of endings.

So now all of you comic book lovers can give me some advice.  Like was this a good move to actually get involved in comics or should I have started with a classic?  Do you have any recommendations on comics?  It’s obvious not to ask a question of who is the best superhero because everyone has their own opinion, and if anyone watches the Big Bang Theory they’d know it would start a fight, evidenced here.

Wish me luck in my experience and here goes nothing.  :-)

I got halfway through writing a comment and accidentally clicked the logout button so…I’ll be short. Sandman is good and they have Watchmen in the library and Maus is depressing and Harvey Pekar is from Cleveland.

Wow, that sounded rude. Sorry. Read whatever you like, obviously, those were just some recommendations I could think of off the top of my head, minus the longer explanations. LOGOUT BUTTON CURSE YOU.

Thank you for the advise. I’ll look into those when I have the chance.
