I have recently realized that when I hear my name called, or have my ticket number called for something like a raffle I stand in disbelief.
Now I mention this because Sunday night was movie night for housing students. They were showing a movie in the great lawn for anyone who wanted to go and see it. My roommate and I decided to go and watch the movie, grabbed a couple blankets, a pillow, and we were ready to go watch a movie. Before the movie started, one of the RA’s was walking around having people sign in and fill out a raffle ticket, with their first and last name.
I didn’t think about it much during the movie, because lets be honest with 35-50 people sitting on the lawn watching a movie, my chances of winning were quite slim. Less people usually means a higher chance of winning, but it doesn’t assure a win. Two and a half hours go by, and I was just in love with the movie, it was high intensity, and a thriller. Oh my god!
Now the movie was over, and I was almost tempted to just walk back to my room, since my chances of winning were quite slim, but I’m sure glad I didn’t. They shuffled the box of tickets, pulled on out and called my name. I was shocked, and in slight disbelief. Did they really call my name? Wait, yes that was me. I won this movie!
The nice thing is, is that housing is doing more movie nights with different movies, and that may mean more chances of winning! Good luck to everyone else, your name could be next.
Think about it, would you believe you just won something?
