For someone like me who lives on campus, going home for the weekend can be a struggle. There is packing of clothes and toiletries that I may want to have, bringing homework along, and packing food that may expire during the weekend. Then comes the 2 hour drive, which makes my body sore after sitting in one spot and one position for that long of a time.
That is really just the beginning.
Once I get home there is unpacking, catching up with family and my cats (yes I miss my cats, and they miss me), and then it’s off to work. As I got this job a month before school began I really didn’t want to give it up so fast, and I told them I would be willing to work every other weekend (the weekends I would usually come back home). I agreed that I could work Friday nights, anytime Saturdays, and Sunday mornings since I’d like to get back to campus Sunday night instead of at 5am Monday morning.
I’ve done this the past few weekends that I’ve gone home, and will continue to do this at least until the end of the semester.
You remember how I just told you that I being my homework along with good intentions of doing it? Well the hard thing about going home is that because I want to socialize with friends and family its hard to make time for that homework. Isn’t that just terrible? Most of the time I end up unpacking homework, leaving it on my dresser, and then repacking it Sunday afternoon. It’s the long work days that wear me out, by the time I’m done I just want to relax and have a little fun. Sorry homework. By the time I get back to school Sunday all I want to do is unpack my car and flop on my bed, the weekend is over, and Monday morning means back to school, back to my other routine.
Am I the only one who has this problem when I end up going home? Can you really blame me?
